French Newspaper „Le moment” – 28 June 1936 In the memory of an air hero During the journey around the world of Bâzu Cantacuzino, the author recalls another great pilot, the first hero aviator: Prince Ionel Ghica. In July 1930, he departs alonE in a Havilland – Moth „Motor Gipsy” plane, from Bicester Oxon (England) to Istanbul (Turkey), willing to break the world record for distance in a straight line. Due to very bad weather, the plane crashes at Tekeven (Bulgaria) at only two hours away from the finish line. Seriously injured, the aviator survives and manages to break two national records: one for speed and one for distance in a straight line. The pilot dies young at only 27 years old. Ziarul franţuzesc „Le moment” – 28 iun. 1936 În memoria unui erou al aerului Cu ocazia raidului în jurul lumii al lui Bâzu Cantacuzino, autorul își amintește un alt mare pilot, primul nostru erou aviator: prințul Ionel Ghica. În iulie 1930, acesta pleacă singur într-un avion Havilland – Moth „Motor Gipsy” din Bicester Oxon (Anglia) spre Istanbul, vrând să bată recordul mondial de distanța în linie dreaptă. Din cauza condițiilor meteorologice foarte proaste, avionul se prăbușește la Tekeven (Bulgaria) la două ore de ținta zborului. Rănit grav, aviatorul scapă cu viață, apoi bate două recorduri naționale (zbor în linie dreaptă și viteză). The journey will cover 34 000 km. Amelia will depart before Bâzu and her plane is equipped with a flight robot that will allow her to rest from time to time. The average speed proposed is 305 km/h.
